Beat the Heat – Where to Swim Locally this Summer

Well, we are off to a scorching start here in Hudson County. And for the first time ever, there is no free public pool in Jersey City. The formerly no-cost Lafayette Pool will now charge adults, as will the Pavonia/Marion Pool. The weekday fee for 18+ adults is $3 per visit, while weekends cost $4. 62+ senior residents will pay $1 at all times. A nice new feature in the midst of this new pay structure is that you can now invite out-of-town guests to join you. Non-resident adults 18+ pay $6 on weekdays and $8 on weekends, while non-resident seniors 62+ pay $2 at all times.

Also, if you are willing to pay for a rather fabulous swim with a view, Jersey City residents are welcome to visit the Weehawken Municipal Pool. Located on Port Imperial Boulevard right by the water, you are swimming while taking in the spectacular NYC skyline. While season passes were offered to non-Weehawken residents for $275, these are no longer available as the number has capped. Note to self – pick up pass early next year! However, day passes are still available for $30 for adults and $15 for children. There are a limited number of passes available each day and you will need to purchase online in advance.
