Fantastic New Mexican in the Heights

There is a brand new authentic Mexican Restaurant in the Heights. We went, we ate and we could not be happier with our delicious experience. La Milpa Taqueria is fun, it’s super-casual and the food is so freakin’ good. This is not surprising as the team behind it is the same crew behind the heights’ beloved The Franklin (which is located right across the street). Like the Franklin, La Milpa Taqueria is also BYOB and they have indoor as well as outdoor seating. The menu is so good – every iteration of huaraches, tacos, flautas, quesadillas and enchiladas that you could ask for (beef tongue or octopus tacos, anyone?) as well as specials like Seafood Tostadas. We started with super-fresh and scrumptious chips and guacamole, followed up with the yummy cheese enchiladas verdes and finished with a shared slice of the homemade flan.

La Milpa Taqueria is open 7 days a week from 11am-12pm and do catering and parties. This is such a great new addition to Jersey City, and proof positive that you don’t need to get all fancy or pricey to have an authentically delicious meal.
