Early Spring Sign Up for Great Produce

Jersey City Harvest used to be called Downtown Harvest. Whatever the moniker, this organization is a volunteer-based community group that promotes sustainable farming by bringing produce and eggs from local and organic farms throughout Jersey to JC via 3 locations:

Grove Street Farmer's Market. PATH Plaza. Mondays, 3-7 p.m.
The Hemlock, 233 Newark Avenue. Wednesdays, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Lincoln Park Farmers Market, Sundays 10-2pm

In addition, they donate the extra shares to a local food pantry in town.

The produce season runs from mid-June to mid-November. The farmers bring weekly shares to pick-up locations and members come to collect their vegetables, trade cooking tips and catch up with friends. In other words, you get a huge portion of interesting produce that satisfy and promote creativity in the kitchen. Do it!
